TFOG - New York State (Today from Our Government) - Executive, Legislative, Judicial and Comptroller - recent events.

This is today's look around at some relevant points in New York State from Our State Government for our TFOG entry:

Executive:

Governor Cuomo Directs Flags to Half-Staff  - Honoring Fallen New York City  Soldier

Legislative:

Public Hearing: To examine mechanisms for better notification procedures in instances where sewage and other pollutants have been released into our water.

As many of us will not soon forget this summer a Fire Induced Fail at the Upper Manhattan Sewage treatment plant led to releasing some 200 + Million Gallons of Raw Sewage into NY Harbor - a set back to Summer Recreation along the shores and to the Recovery of the New York Harbor Estuary.

The NY State Senate is listening and this is a chance to be heard on the important effort to protect NY Waterways and consider the key message that one of the key Capital Projects we need downstate in NYC and Nassau County is new sewage treatment facilities that are up to the task.  Here is our chance to be heard on this in NYC the NYS senate committee will be with us:

Date: Friday, October 14th, 2011, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Senate Hearing Room
250 Broadway 19th Floor,
New York, NY
Phone:Ibrahim Khan (212) 544-0173
You can send written remarks or go in person as best suits your needs. Some people will say why does it matter - but the answer is it does - NY Has amazing Natural Resources and great seashore - the way to enjoy it is to protect it with reasonable protective procedures for Public Health and Recreation. This one is too important to let sit silent so we are weighing in - we hope it's something that you'll care about too.

Judicial:

New York State Unified Courts  - per chance an Accounting case recently decided at NY Supreme Court in New York County:

Phillips Gold & Co., LLP v Speiser

A decision involving a dispute between an Accounting Firm and a Former Partner.

Comptroller:
